The river Ätran has been a very important element to Falkenberg, used for transport of timber, hydro power and salmon fishing. Ätran is also hosting the rare and threatened river pearl mussel. The surface water drainage of the park can be used for playing and learning about these facts, like a mini Ätran. Designed with different characteristics giving different sound and physical experiences to discover for its visitors.

Water is a play element that immediately attracts children to play and make them really preoccupied – it is flexible and changeable, like sand in a sand box. If allowed to play with it – parents can enjoy a long moment of rest beside the stream, which is a side effect not to under estimate.

Sketches: Play areas in a stream running through the park. Water is an excellent play material as it is changeable.
How can we add facts, fact-elements to the bottom of the stream telling a story to the kids and visitors? The bottom flora of the river is represented by figures and patterns cast into the concrete bottom.

Here the bottom has elements showing how the currents of the river moves, trash.
