The Ätran river and its clay has created very good conditions for a local pottery- and brick tile production. Along the river there were several places used as clay pits where the ceramicists picked their clay used for everyday goods in their pottery studios, situated next to the river in Gamla Stan, the Old Town. For many centuries this was an important trade craft in Falkenberg, today only one pottery still exists, Törngrens.
As part of the play area, we propose an all-wet clay pit for children to dig and change. Play tools provided as pottery pattern tools can be used to make large scale patterns in the clay, just like Törngren´s did.
